In 2008 as part of an effort to update our Data Center Operator market knowledge, we met representatives from Atos Origin (www.atosorigin.com). Little did we know at the time of our introduction, the impressive capabilities this organization brings to its clients. After further research and inclusive in several recent data center procurement projects, we have come to know the capabilities, assets and management team of Atos Origin. Recently, I traveled to Sugar Land, Texas, (a suburb just outside their US headquarters in Houston) to participate in the 1st annual Atos Origin Executive Forum. The event was specifically hosted for consultants, analysts and partners in the data center and managed IT service market-place. During the event, we had a chance to meet the Atos Origin management team, understand their global strategy, managed services portfolio and hear from a number of current customers. In particular, Atos Origin's strengths can best be leveraged by those applications and IT systems that would benefit from a Tier 3+ infrastructure, a global footprint, a strategic relationship with SAP and Dell, and a customer service philosophy called "Service Beyond Reason." With a deep European IT consulting and managed service heritage, Atos Origin has grown to an $8.5 billion company with data center assets in Europe, Asia and the United States, and a highly available network system connecting the data centers.
