As this issue of Out Front hits your inbox, September 11th is just around the corner and the Advocate Networks team is looking forward to one of its annual service days. Each year we affirm our Guiding Principles – and commemorate 9/11 – by becoming involved in an activity that benefits our friends, neighbors, and community.
In 2004 we helped a low-income family realize the dream of homeownership by working on a Habitat for Humanity project in Roswell, Georgia. The next year we gave our hiking muscles a workout by rebuilding part of the Appalachian Trail in a nearby Georgia state park. In 2006 we traveled to an NFL Boys Club in southwest Atlanta and spent the day renovating their gym so neighborhood children would have a safe, secure place to meet and play.
This year we plan to work on a ToolBank HouseProud project. The ToolBank HouseProud Program provides no cost home repairs for senior, disabled, and single parent homeowners that live in downtown Atlanta with the mission of keeping them warm, safe and dry in their existing homes. Our team is looking forward repairing a home and doing our part to make the world a better place. History suggests we'll be able to field a full squad for the effort. Over 90 percent of our employees generally sign up under a program that covers their salary for up to two service days each year.
For us, the service days are a worthwhile investment. They demonstrate that our Guiding Principles are more than just words on paper. They really are a big part of what makes Advocate Networks a unique company and a good corporate citizen.
Before I sign off, I want to acknowledge David Stolarek (Global Crossing) and Jon Bridges (Chick-fil-A). When I reached out to these busy executives, I was keeping my fingers crossed that they would agree to be part of this issue.
As it turned out, both of them made time in their schedules and helped our staff put together a wonderfully rich issue with great insights into FET, IP video, and communication system planning. I want to express our heartfelt thanks to them for sharing their knowledge, experience, and expertise with us.
