Strategy and Practice Leader Bob Landstrom might be new to Advocate Networks (see What's New article), but he's no stranger to the Atlanta technology community. In fact, Landstrom has been actively involved with the Atlanta Telecom Professionals (ATP) for several years.
Before joining ATP, he was a featured CIO Roundtable participant and two-time program speaker advising members on how to tackle complex issues affecting their enterprise infrastructures. Landstrom ultimately decided to join ATP and was invited to become part of the ATP Board as director of events in 2007.
"I committed to coming up with something creative and compelling for the members," says Landstrom. "I wanted to stretch the envelope and generate lots of food for thought."
In recent months Landstrom has sought out speakers from across the country and around the world, even bringing in industry authorities like Digium's Kevin Fleming and organizing programs on hot topics like open-source solutions for telecom.
"ATP is a quality organization that delivers real value to its community," says Landstrom. "That focus is one reason about a third of the members are senior telecom executives. They know we're not a social networking group."
Landstrom says he's gotten great feedback on the program schedule so far. He's putting the finishing touches on panel discussions highlighting new security challenges and how telecom companies are dealing with changes to the OSI (open systems interconnection) stack.
