Living a Service Culture
As this issue of Out Front hits your inbox, September 11th is just around the corner and the Advocate Networks team is looking forward to one of its annual service days. Each year we affirm our Guiding Principles – and commemorate 9/11 – by becoming involved in an activity that benefits our friends, neighbors, and community.

In 2004 we helped a low-income family realize the dream of homeownership by working on a Habitat for Humanity project in Roswell, Georgia. The next year we gave our hiking muscles a workout by rebuilding part of the Appalachian Trail in a nearby Georgia state park. In 2006 we traveled to an NFL Boys Club in southwest Atlanta and spent the day renovating their gym so neighborhood children would have a safe, secure place to meet and play.

This year we plan to work on a ToolBank HouseProud project. The ToolBank HouseProud Program provides no cost home repairs for senior, disabled, and single parent homeowners that live in downtown Atlanta with the mission of keeping them warm, safe and dry in their existing homes.

Chick-fil-A Embraces the VOIP Workforce

Advocate Networks Plays Key Role in Planning Strategy
Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is already one of the largest privately owned restaurant chains in the country. But it has ambitious plans to expand beyond its traditional southeastern footprint. To facilitate this growth, the company’s IT department is establishing a voice over IP (VOIP) platform to enhance communications and improve operational efficiency.

“We are implementing a platform for strategic growth that is capable of supporting the needs of the business,” says Jon Bridges, Chick-fil-A’s chief information officer. “We see our future as being a more virtual company. As we expand, more work will be done from home and at partner companies.”

Getting the Lowdown on Videoconferencing

Videoconferencing isn’t new news. In fact, ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) and IP (Internet Protocol) based systems have been on the market for a couple of decades. But recent advances in affordability, usability, and performance have prompted a lot of business executives to give the technology a fresh look.
