Scott Fogle, co-President and co-Founder

Scott FogleScott Fogle co-founded Advocate Networks, LLC in 2001. Advocate Networks is a management consulting firm with deep expertise in global communications and data center services and infrastructure. Advocate Networks has been recognized in the INC 5000 for the last four years – recognized for consistent growth over the last seven years among the top 5000 private companies in the United States.  Advocate Networks serves over 450 clients in the United States, Europe and Asia. Advocate Networks leads client initiatives in cost-savings, operating efficiencies and planning of new communications and data center solutions.

Scott Fogle has 23 years in world-wide communications and computing industries. A successful entrepreneur, he has held significant leadership assignments in domestic and international marketing, sales, operations and product management with NCR, AT&T, Scientific-Atlanta, Rapid Link Communications and Dantis, Inc.

Scott is a member of the Board of Directors at the Mountain Top Boys Home.

He graduated Georgia Institute of Technology in 1987 and holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with Honors.


Tim Wise, co-President and co-Founder

Tim WiseTim Wise has 10 years of experience within the domestic and international telecommunications industry. He is an expert in financial and business case modeling, procurement and contract negotiations, project leadership, strategic planning, and executive communications within the communications industry, both domestic and international.

Before co-founding Advocate Networks, he was a co-founder and COO of Rapid Link Communications, an international telecom service provider. At Rapid Link, he was responsible for the company’s network engineering and deployment, operations support systems, and operations, customer services, legal and administrative services.

Tim holds a juris doctorate from the University of South Carolina Law School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, with honors, from the University of South Carolina.


Paul Shiman, Chief Marketing Officer

Paul ShimanMr. Shiman has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience leading companies in mobile and wireless technology, enterprise applications and most recently serving as Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Alliances at Stratix Corporation a leading enterprise mobility solutions provider. Prior positions include Vice President for SiriusDecisions, an Executive Advisory Services company providing senior-level executives with the sales and marketing operational intelligence.

Paul has led sales and marketing teams at a number of major technology organizations including Netkey, Motorola, (formerly Symbol Technologies), and GRiD Systems.

Mr. Shiman received a B.A. degree in Business Administration from the London Metropolitan University and currently serves on the board of Executive Sales and Marketing Association and is the Marketing Program Director for Women in Technology (WIT).


Derrick Harris, Chief People Officer

Mr. Harris has over 20 years of human resource experience in human resources and consulting and he has worked with a wide range of firms from Fortune 50 companies to small start-up organizations. Most recently he worked as a Senior Consultant in the Human Capital practice at Deloitte Consulting. Prior positions include Vice President for Silverton Bank, a national correspondent bank, where he established and managed an HR advisory practice serving the bank’s 1500+ customer base.

Derrick has also worked in human resource management and consulting at a number of major firms including Hewitt Associates, NorthgateArinso, Towers Perrin, J.P. Morgan Bank, The Coca Cola Company and Unisys Corporation. He earned a Masters degree in Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School in 1992.  He also earned his undergraduate degree in Economics with honors from Columbia University in New York City in 1986.  


Rob Stewart, Managing Consultant, Communications Assessment, Audit, and Sourcing

Rob StewartRob Stewart has more than 25 years of experience with domestic and international wireline and wireless telecommunications carriers, products, contracts and pricing.

He is considered an industry expert in strategic planning, contracts negotiations, business assessment, consulting practice leadership, client project leadership, and executive communications.

Previously, he was a senior member of the Telwares Communications consulting team and an executive in Sprint’s special pricing department.

Rob has an MBA from Emory University (Woodruff Fellow) and a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors from Princeton University.


Marco Kuysten, Managing Consultant, Infrastructure Assessment, Strategy, and Planning

Marco KuystenMarco Kuysten has 13 years of experience within the international information and communications industry. Prior to his 6 years of consulting, Marco was managing communication networks for customers such as KPMG. Marco is the recipient of the Advocate Networks Guiding Principles Award in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Marco has expertise in the domestic and international IT and communications industry, enterprise IP telephony solutions and strategies, wireless voice, data communications and applications, and enterprise and service provider telecom expense management.

He has executed more than 100 projects for diverse clientele throughout healthcare, banking, regulatory/government, manufacturing, professional services, nonprofit and carrier markets as well as privately held companies and industries such as Heineken, KPMG, 3M and AOL. Marco has a B.S. in Physics and Marketing from the Netherlands. 


Tom McLean, Managing Consultant, Product Strategy and Planning

Tom McLean Tom McLean has 16 years of experience in the telecommunications industry.  Before joining Advocate Networks, Tom held regulatory and product management responsibilities for two CLECs. Those responsibilities included the development of bundled voice products as well as negotiation of wholesale/interconnect agreements with all major service providers. Tom has expertise in financial and business case modeling, product development, procurement and contract negotiations, and data mining. He has a B.A. in Marketing from Clemson University.





John Johnson, Managing Director, Managed Services

John JohnsonJohn Johnson has 16 years of experience in IT management. During his career, he has developed a $40 million IT expense budget, lead diverse IT teams, and delivered multiple IT process improvements and systems implementations.

He previously was the director of portfolio management and IS controls at Sage Software, a small business and mid-market software company based in Atlanta, Georgia. He held a similar position at EarthLink and was an IT process improvement consultant for IBM, Deloitte Consulting, and KPMG.

As a consultant, he supported multiple clients in varying industries with IT process improvements and systems implementations.

John has an MBA from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the William Paterson University.


 

Jon Stroup, VP of Sales and Business Development

Jon StroupJon Stroup has more than 20 years of diverse experience in the global telecom and technology sectors. He has held executive positions at Scientific-Atlanta, Egon Zehnder International, and Advocate Networks in sales, management, and executive recruiting. Significant clients include Time Warner Cable, Equant, BellSouth, Motorola, Superior Essex, Siemens, and Ericsson. At Advocate Networks, Jon leads the sales and business development efforts in the Southeast for our consulting and managed services business units.

After completing a BSME at Princeton University and an MSE at MIT, Jon began a career in technical sales in Colorado and California with a unit of Illinois Tool Works.

Later at Scientific-Atlanta in Georgia, he led major account teams, providing broadband communications systems to major MSO’s, including the first digital video and coaxial telephony systems to Time Warner Cable. At Egon Zehnder International, Jon was a key member of the global Technology Practice, working with executive and board level clients.
